On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the Parliament of the Republic of Poland hosted the ceremonial opening of an exhibition commemorating the 140th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Jan Czochralski \u2013 an outstanding Polish chemist and metallurgist, the creator of the method for growing single crystals of silicon, which became the foundation of modern electronics. His discoveries enabled the development of microprocessors, computers, and smartphones that we use daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was initiated by MP Iwona Koz\u0142owska<\/strong>, with the exhibition panels prepared by the Kcynia Municipal Office. During the opening, a letter from the Speaker of the Parliament, Szymon Ho\u0142ownia<\/strong>, was read, highlighting the professor\u2019s contributions to global science and his rehabilitation by the Polish Academy of Sciences in the 21st century. Speeches were delivered by, among others, Senate Speaker Ma\u0142gorzata Kidawa-B\u0142o\u0144ska<\/strong>, Deputy Minister of Science Prof. Marek Gzik<\/strong>, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Maciej Lasek<\/strong>, and Kcynia Mayor Mateusz Stachowiak<\/strong>, who called for the establishment of a science center named after Czochralski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The ceremony was attended by the professor\u2019s family members, Danuta and Sylwester Czochralski<\/strong>, MPs Aleksandra Uzna\u0144ska-Wi\u015bniewska<\/strong>, Magdalena \u0141o\u015bko<\/strong>, Piotr Gli\u0144ski<\/strong>, Pawe\u0142 Szrot<\/strong>, Piotr Kowal<\/strong>, Senator Stanis\u0142aw Pawlak<\/strong>, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Deputy Voivode Piotr Hemmerling<\/strong>, scientists Prof. Bogus\u0142aw<\/strong> Buszewski<\/strong>, Prof. Adam Gadomski<\/strong>, Prof. Micha\u0142 Leszczy\u0144ski<\/strong>, Prof. Tadeusz Kulik<\/strong>, Prof. Anna Paj\u0105czkowska<\/strong>, and a delegation from the Kcynia Municipal Office, including Mayor Mateusz Stachowiak<\/strong>, Chairman of the Municipal Council Zbigniew Witczak<\/strong>, Director of the Jan Czochralski Primary School in Kcynia Aleksandra<\/strong> Doiczman<\/strong>, Deputy Director Natalia \u017bychli\u0144ska-Nowakowska<\/strong>, Micha\u0142 Poczobutt<\/strong>, Jan Kurant<\/strong>, and Anna Duda-Nowicka<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is another initiative promoting the legacy of Prof. Czochralski from Kcynia.
